Sept. 15. Monday

Today students discussed 5 characterization techniques authors use.

1.  Read Daily Comp.

2.  Wrote 2nd paragraph of essay.

3. Vocab p. 136 reviewed.

4. Read orally some of “Mother Daughter”.  Finished rest of story silently.

5. HW-Picture Vocab and do Eng. workbook pp. 9-10.

Spelling quiz on Friday on group 1 words only.

Sept. 12, Friday

1. Completed GUM English corrections

2.  Did reading workbook pp. 50-57.   ANANLYZED PLOT OF A FABLE.  Made story board of main events of a fable’s plot.

3.  Wrote first paragraph of “Danger” essay (rough copy)

Sept. 11, Thursday

Today in class students:

1.  Did GUM ENGLISH exercises

2.  Story discussion of “The Ruum”

3.  Reviewed reading skills .  Took Open book test p. 119. 1-6  and p. 121. 1-6

Sept. 10, Wednesday

Today in class:

1.  GUM English exercises

2.  Quiz  on classifying pronouns.

3.  Discussed lst half of “The Ruum”

4.  HW-finish reading pp. 96-105 of “The Ruum”

Sept. 9-Tuesday

Today students:

1.  corrected GUM exercises in English

2. checked English/Reading homework and filed in binder

3.  Quiz tomorrow on classifying pronouns (we reviewed today by working p. 309. ex. 18,. 19 and 20

4.  Read orally and discussed “Zoo” p. 85 in reader

5. HW-Read pp. 89-95 of “The Ruum”

Study for pronoun quiz tomorow

Monday, Sept. 8, 2008

1. Corrected grammar mistakes using GUM exercises on overhead.

2. Took test on “Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”

3. English-exercises 16-17, pp. 306-307; did in class.

4. HW- Read pp 81-82 in Reader and answer Q. 1-6, p. 83

NOTE: Two paragraph essay is due on Wed.

Friday, Sept, 5

1. read Daily Comp

2.  checked Englsh workbook pp. 3-8.

3.  See Textbook- reading . p. 79.   Wrote a two paragraph essay on this-rough copy only.

4.  Reviewed for test on “Th Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”

Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008

Today students read Daily Comprehension /answered 3 questions.

1.  Worked on demonstrative pronouns/personal pronouns and antecedents.  Ex. 14 / 15. p. 304-305.

2.  Collected Picture vocab on “Monsters Are Due…” for HW grade

3. HW- pp 3-8 in English workbook.

NOTE: ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS DUE/SALLY FOSTER DUE TOMORROW!

Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008

Today students worked on inferences and illustrated picture vocabulary.

1. Read Daily Comp and checked.

2. Reviewed 10 vocab words and illustrated with pictures.

3. Pop quiz on Act I “The Monsters …”

4. Began Act iI of “the monsters…”

5. HW- finish reading Act II of play and do picture vocabulary from play.

NOTE:  PTA FUNDRAISER ENDS THIS FRIDAY!  Turn in all unsold Entertainment books and any Sally Foster

2. Reviewed story vocab on p. 57 of text
3. Read orally part of Act I, p, 59, “Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”
4. HW-finish reading Act I only and list 3 inferences you made (see little book icons)
